Job Description:
- Making comprehensive assessments, effective planning and evaluation of sessions, appropriate development and implementation of appropriate treatment plans, strong documentation and report writing skills.
- Ability to create a safe space for patient engagement.
- Supporting children and adolescents with acute and chronic illnesses such as traumatic brain injury and childhood cancer using developmentally appropriate interventions.
- Supporting women with cancer.

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor / Master in Music Therapy from an accredited university

- At least 1 year of work experience in a clinical medical or relevant setting
- Competent in the clinical, medical music therapy care and support of paediatric and women patients and their families

2. Senior Music Therapist/ Music Therapist – REN CI COMMUNITY HOSPITAL

Ren Ci Community Hospital is looking for either a Senior or entry-level Music Therapist join the team as
part of expansion plans. Ren Ci has facilities in Novena, Ang Mo Kio, Bukit Batok and Woodlands.
Being part of the Psychosocial Services Department, you shall collaborate and work closely with the team
of social workers, case-coordinators, art therapists, as well as professionals from other disciplines.
Job Description:
- Participate in development of new clinical services for music therapy and Psychosocial Services Department.
- Assess suitability of clients referred for music therapy, and design, implement, manage and evaluate individualised care plans to meet their therapeutic needs.
- Identify and prioritise therapeutic goals in collaboration with the client/family/caregiver and multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness in developing the music therapy programme and meeting the needs of the clients.
- Facilitate individual and group interventions for clients and caregivers by employing clinically safe, culturally-informed and evidence-based practice.
- Providing clinical education and supervision for Music Therapy and other students on clinical attachment as required.
- Uphold standards of best practice by staying up to date and complying with relevant legislation, organization procedures, policies and professional codes of conduct.
Additional Requirements for Senior Music Therapist Role:
- Provide inputs on grant writing and budgeting of funds received for music therapy program.
- In consultation with the Head of Psychosocial Services Department, support the recruitment and management of Music Therapy staff, operational plans and professional practice to ensure quality and grant targets are met.
- Providing regular high quality clinical supervision to Music Therapists as appropriate.
- Lead and engage in regular clinical supervision to facilitate in-depth reflection, understanding and ethical issues in clinical work.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor / Master in Music Therapy from recognised institutions.
- Registration with the professional body for music therapists and active participation in the Association for Music Therapy Singapore (AMTS).
- Relevant knowledge and experience in working with older adults of various circumstances during internship or previous work experience.
- Has relevant post-graduate specialised training in medical music therapy is not necessary but desirable.
Additional Requirements for Senior Music Therapist Position:
- Relevant knowledge and experience in working with older adults of various circumstances of at least 5 years.
Job Skills:
- Demonstrating proficient musicianship and is able to accompany voice appropriately with suitable culturally and age appropriate repertoire is essential.
- Demonstrating competence or openness in integrating local music history and cultural contexts in therapy, including the use of recorded or live music for major languages and select dialect groups is desirable.
- Demonstrates use variety of music therapy methods and techniques.
- Experience in facilitating group and individual music therapy sessions.
- Demonstrates specialist clinical skill expertise in the areas of assessment and management of music therapy clients and the ability to undertake professional supervision and promote professional competence of music therapy staff.
- Demonstrates quality improvement skills including planning, process improvement, data analysis and project management.
- Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team framework.
- Experience in training and education.
- High level communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Commitment to ongoing education and self-directed learning.
- Self-awareness and ability to use self in facilitating change.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Determining therapy objectives with the client at the outset of the relationship;
- Planning, reviewing and assessing therapy sessions to monitor effectiveness and to aid the planning of subsequent sessions;
- Taking an active role in sessions by playing, singing and listening;
- Encouraging clients to take part in the session, and supporting them by responding musically;
- Encouraging clients to use a range of accessible musical instruments (such as percussion) and their own voice to express themselves;
- Helping clients explore the world of sound and to create a musical language of their own;
- Improvising with music as a reaction to what the client is communicating in order to enhance the individual nature of the relationship;
- Recording therapy sessions, with the consent of the client(s);
- Supporting the client’s creative development and facilitating positive changes in their behaviour and well-being;
- Helping the client develop an increased self-awareness;
- Assessing the musical and non-musical behaviours of the clients;
- Writing up case notes and reports. Music therapists working in a clinical setting may spend a lot of time liaising with professional colleagues engaged in the care and development of their clients.

Our Therapy Services team is looking for a Music Therapist to join us at our campus in Margaret Drive. The Music Therapist, working as part of an interdisciplinary team, will be responsible for the delivery of quality music therapy services and may work across a variety of settings at Rainbow Centre (early intervention, schools, out-of-school hours care and community outreach services etc).

Candidate Requirements:
- Possess a Degree or Masters in Music Therapy or its equivalent

- Prior working experience in a special education setting will be a definite advantage
- Good communications skills to convey thoughts and ideas succinctly to various stakeholders, as well as to foster interdisciplinary collaboration to provide client-centric service and achieve best outcomes.
- Able to handle the physical demands of the role, such as lifting clients and equipment
